I came across a site called The Responsibility Project that has links for lots of great short films, many of them animated, to help teach kids (and grownups!) about responsibility.
The Responsibility Project began when Liberty Mutual ran a TV commercial about people doing things for strangers. The response was truly overwhelming. Thousands of emails and letters from people all over the country poured in with positive comments about the ad.
Liberty Mutual thought, if one brief TV spot can get people thinking and talking about responsibility, imagine what could happen if they went a step further? So they created a series of short films and a website as an exploration of what it means to do the right thing.
The more people think and talk about responsibility and debate what it means, the more it can affect how we live our daily lives. And maybe we can even make the world just a little better.
All of their short films are inspiring and thought-provoking, but I think my favorite is Lighthouse. It’s three minutes long, animated, and definitely worth the watch. Get the kids involved too, and then talk about it together. I think you’ll be glad you did.
