This is going to be a mostly lazy photo post. Sunday, we woke up and decided (completely out of the blue) to head to the zoo an hour and a half away from us. Jenna has only been to one other zoo (last spring), and loved it. Sunday was a perfect fall day, and the temp was right around 80. We had a wonderful time. Jenna’s Cousin L, who Jenna completely adores, came with us too, which made the day even more special.
The highlight of the day was being able to feed the giraffes. We haven’t found an animal that Jenna is afraid of, and the giraffes were no exception. Check out that long, slimy, black tongue!
It was amazing how close they came to us! This one was grouchy and didn’t want anything to do with any touching though. He said, “Crackers only, people. NO TOUCHING THE HEAD!!!”
A shorter friend (baby?) came over to mooch. I love the joy on Jenna’s face in this one. (Click to enlarge)
A sleepy red panda that looked so soft I just wanted to snuggle him. He’d probably scratch my face off though…
He likes to move it, move it……. (a la Madagascar)
Jenna’s first carousel ride. She didn’t want to stop. She did it twice, and she wanted to do it again.
A baby snow leopard named, Shanti (“Peace”) in a glass enclosure. She would chase our hands across the glass and kept jumping at Jenna. Not sure if she wanted to play with us, or eat us…..
Oreo monkeys. (I don’t remember their official name, but they look soft and cuddly too!)
Such intensity! Trying to make Daddy understand something important.
This brave little guy came right up to us.
The Zebras were grazing out in the huge plains area with the giraffes
Playing bongos & checking out her shadow (she’s fascinated by shadows right now)
Riding a creepy giant bug
Crawling through a bunny tunnel. On the other end there was a place to view the fluffy bunnies.
Riding on the zoo train. Front row seats. She wasn’t so sure about the tunnel.
