Music Review: Fun Tunes for Teachers (and Kids)

03 Aug

Grandma bought Jenna this CD, and we just love it! It’s called “Fun Tunes for Teachers” and the artist is Brent Holmes. All the songs have great teaching lyrics about vowels, counting, counting by multiples, and more, all done with lots of silly fun. From the “grown-up” perspective, I find Brent’s vocal talent enjoyable and think that most of the songs are catchy and fun – not always the case with other kids music.

The acoustic music includes guitar, steel drums, and fiddle. “When You Get The Moo’s” is done in Blues style, “A-E-I-O-Moo” (our favorite) has a Caribbean feel, “I Met a Cow Wearing a Moo-Moo” sounds Hawaiian and features a ukulele playing cow, and “The Walrus Song” features a walrus with a Cockney accent counting in multiples.

I think we’re going to have to check out some of the other CD choices, just for a little more singing and dancing fun.
