Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle

02 Jul

If you’re not familiar with Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, you’re gonna love her! I still remember my mom reading these stories to me, and how much I loved them. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle lives in an upside-down house where all the kids in the neighborhood love to go because it always smells like baking cookies and her backyard is full of buried treasure. She helps parents solve all kinds of behavioral problems with her “magic” common sense solutions. For the kids who don’t want to go to bed, she recommends that the parents let them stay up however late they wanted. After several nights of this, they become so tired that they beg to go to bed early. For the little girl who didn’t want to take a bath, Mrs. PW recommended that the mother sprinkle radish seeds in the dirt on the girl’s arms. You can guess where that one’s going. Here’s the original I grew up on (with a new improved cover):

You can also purchase the whole set for a whole lot of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle fun and wisdom. Each book has about 8 short stories, perfect for reading at bedtime. Probably best enjoyed by kids aged 4-10.
