I Spy… a fabulous quiet activity

28 Jun

Check out these wonderful little I Spy Bags filled with 40 things to find from The Crafting Corner at Etsy! There’s a list printed on the back of the bag of all the treasures inside. Kids can move the little pellets around to find all the things from the list. All the seams are double-stitched to help prevent breakage, but, to be safe, smaller children should probably only play with it when you are nearby and monitoring the activity. The site suggests:

Perfect for use in the car, at church, in a waiting room, or anytime quiet play is needed, this easily transportable game will become you and your child’s favorite toy! Along with hours of fun activity, the I Spy Bags also contribute to the development of reading, eye-hand coordination, word recognition and fine motor skills.

They’d also be great on an airplane! This bag is 7 x 7, and they also have a mini version available that’s 4 x 4 that would be even smaller for packing and carrying. FYI: The smaller size has fewer things to find, which equals shorter time and attention required by your child. I also love that they point out:

Our printed list of items is safely secured on the back of the bag to prevent loss of the list and is framed with a decorative stitch to prevent fraying. By listing the hidden items instead of using pictures, your child is able to develop their vocabulary and word recognition skills.

Jenna loves “I Spy” books and finding hidden things, so I think this would be a big winner as a quiet activity in our household. Until she excitedly yells, “I FIND it, Mommy!” at the top of her lungs……..

They have these at my daughter’s school, and they’re as great as they sound. The four-year-olds were fascinated for days!
