Teaching a toddler their name

19 Jun

To help our daughter, Jenna, learn her name, we incorporated it into a song. We stole the tune for B-I-N-G-O since we were lucky enough to be working with a 5 letter name. It goes like this:

There was a mommy had a baby, Jenna was her name-o. J-E-N-N-A…… OR:

A lucky mommy had a girl and Jenna was her name-o……

Daddy replaces “mommy” with “daddy” as needed. We’ve been singing it to her since she was a baby, and, at 2 y/o, she knows how to spell her name. She still requests the song at bedtime when we sing.

What tricks have you tried to teach your kids their names? Let me know in the comments section.
